Disembarked Plymouth, England, 24 September 1917, and marched in to 4th Reserve Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, Sling Camp. Proceeded overseas to France, 26 October 1917; joined 2nd Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 11 November 1917, and posted to 8th Company. Wounded in action, 20 February 1918 (gas shell, mustard), admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to No 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station; to 55th General Hospital, Boulogne, 21 February 1918; to England, 7 March 1918, and admitted same day to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 14 March 1918; to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 22 June 1918; to Reserve Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, Sling Camp, 1 August 1918.
