War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Embarked Alexandria with unit to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 12 April 1915. Admitted to HS 'Franconia', 9 May 1915 (gunshot wound, head); transferred to Egyptian Army Hospital, Cairo, 11 May 1915 (gunshot wound, right arm). Proceeded overseas to Dardanelles, 16 June 1915; rejoined unit, Anzac Cove, 22 June 1915. Admitted to General Hospital, Cairo, 30 August 1915 (enteritis); discharged to General Base Depot, Ghezireh, 17 January 1916. Rejoined unit, Moascar, 24 January 1916.
