Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At the assault on the Belle Vue Ridge on 12th October, this man showed conspicuous gallantry and determination to close with the enemy, inspiring and encouraging all the men near him. Despite very heavy shell and machine gun fire he continued to snipe the enemy, inflicting many casualties.'
