Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantryand devotion to duty during the operations on October 8th, 1918, near Crevecoeur. While leading his platoon forward Sergt Bell was wounded by a piece of H.E. Shell. He had his wound dressed and refused to go out, continuing to lead his Platoon. Although the enemy barrage was was a very havy one and 40 per cent of the Platoon were casualties Sergt Bell contonued his advance, and, when opposed by several machine gun nests, he gallantly charged the posts with his platoon, put the guns out of action killing or capturing the crews. He showed a fine disregard of danger and inspired all with his brave leadership.'
