Mentioned in Despatches 'Lieut A.P. McCormac, Quartermaster of the Battalion, is recommended for devotion to duty at all times, and particularly during the operations in the Somme (September/October 1916) when he kept the Battalion at all times supplied with fresh rations and water under great transport difficulties. On no single occasion did he fail to bring up to the Unit, wherever it was the bread, cooked fresh meat, water
etc, so necessary for the well-being of the men, with the result that they were fed during the operations in the same manner as in stationary trench warfare, thus leading to the greater efficiency of the Unit.'
