Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 6th September, 1918, near Neuville, in command of a forward section of guns. He kept them close up to the
infantry in face of intense machine gun fire, and kept them in action all day in close cooperation with the infantry, dealing with field guns and machine guns near Havrincourt Wood. One of his guns was put out of action, and he had heavy casualties to men and horses. This is not the first time he has distinguished himself.'
