War service: Western Front Embarked Wellington, 16 July 1917; disembarked Liverpool, England, 16 September 1917, and marched in to 5th Reserve Bn, Tidworth. Found guilty (charge not recorded), 22 October 1917; awarded 72 hours' detention and forfeiture of 1 day's pay under Royal Warrant: sentence remitted on proceeding overseas. Proceeded overseas to France, 23 October 1917. Joined Bn, in the field, 2 November 1917, and posted to D Company. Admitted to NZ Reinforcements Field Ambulance, 7 March 1918 (measles), and transferred to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance; to 1/3 West Riding Field Ambulance, 22 March 1918. Marched out to 3rd Entrenching Bn, 7 April 1918, and attached to 2nd Entrenching Bn.
