Military Medal 'At Ploegsteert Wood on 25th March 1917. The 13th Battery was under very heavy hostile fire, During the shelling three men were wounded in the billets close by, two of them seriously. Sgt Mason went alone to the billet, bandaged the three men, had two of them removed, and under heavy fire carried the third man on his back, a distance of 300 yards, to a place of safety. By this act he showed a splendid example of courage and saved the men's lives. He has on several previous occasions performed acts worthy of recognition.'
