Wounded in action, 14 July 1917 (gun shot wound, left elbow), and admitted to No 4 NZ Field Ambulance; transferred to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 15 July 1917; to No 3 Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne, 17 July 1917; to England, 20 July 1917, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 21 July 1917; to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 28 September 1917; to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 18 October 1917; to 4th Reserve Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, Sling Camp. 19 January 1918.
