Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field near Bancourt on 30th August 1918. When in command of his platoon this NCO showed great
determination and resource whilst attacking the ridge in front of Bancourt on the above date. He constantly rallied his men under very heavy machine gun and shell fire, and by his example and accurate reports, greatly assisted towards the success of the operations. He has acted as platoon commander throughout the recent operations between Gommecourt and Gouzeaucourt and has proved himself a most reliable platoon commander, displaying initiative and courage and a high order.'
