On an ammunition truck being set on fire by an enemy shell he instantly rushed to the burning truck and, with the assistance of another man, detached and pushed it from the remainder of the train at grave personal risk. But for his prompt and gallant action the loss of ammunition and rolling stock would undoubtedly have been heavy.'
