Military Medal 'During the operations in and about Flers on the 18th September, this N.C.O. showed consistent bravery, and was a fine example. Again on the 1st October he reconnoitred for the company commander during the attack ascertained where the flanks of adjoining companies rested, and brought back infornation of the greatest value and assistance to his company commander. His work was done under heavy shellfire and during the progress of an attack. He is worthy of special distinction.'
