Military Medal 'February 26th to September 20th, 1917. For consistent good work throughout the period under review both as Forward Observation Officer and with the Guns. At Pettit Monque Farm (near Ploegstreet) on May 6th Lieutenant Lyon, at great personal risk, went from the Officer's Mess over open ground for a distance of some 500 yards under heavy shell fire to help two wounded men, rendered first aid, and had them carried back to a place of safety. This Officer has always displayed exceptional courage and devotion to duty.'
