Military Medal 'At Messines on June 7th, 1917. During operations on the Messines front this N.C.O. was one of the linesmen with F.O.O.'s party for 18 hours, during which time he rendered excellent service repairing lines under heavy shellfire. By his splendid work he was able to maintain communication from O.P. to advanced Brigade Headquarters. On the following day he again worked continuously for 18 hours repairing lines under heavy fire. Bombardier Baxter has done continuous good work, and has proved himself a valuable and brave man.'
