Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and initiative. On the morning of the 1st October 1918, near Crevecoeur, during a most critical period of the fighting Private Larkins gathered together two or three of his comrades, and with a Lewis gun he himself went forward to protect the flank of his Company. He established this post on high ground in the face of heavy enemy shell and machine gun Fire. His bold initiative and splendid gallantry in a large measure prevented the enemy retaking the objective won.'
