Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the afternoon of 24th August east of Biefvillers he was with 2/Lieut Brister when the latter was hit in "No Mans Land" his leg being broken. Private Langvad attended to his wounds and stayed with him, although both our own and an enemy barrage were falling. At dusk he came in to our line for stretcher bearers, but being unable to obtain them, returned to 2/Lieut Brister. Towards midnight he came in again, and obtained the assistance of two bearers. These, however, got lost in "No Mans Land". Early in morning of
25th he again came in, and directed our own bearers to the spot, this time being successful in getting 2/Lieut Brister back to the dressing station. His devotion to duty and determination to get the officer back, irrespective of danger to himself, were most marked.'
