Croix de Guerre (Belgium) 'For consistent good work and coolness and under fire during the period 1st December 1917 to 20th March 1918. Lieut Karauti was in charge of a platoon employed building a plank road forward of Westhoek Ridge, also on construction of Overseas Trench. His platoon was frequently subjected to heavy enemy shelling. He displayed great coolness under very adverse conditions, handled his men well and at all times encouraged them to do good work.'
