Military Medal 'On the morning of the 24th November 1917 Corporal M.R. Jones was returning with a working party along the Westhoek-Zonnebeke Road, east of Ypres. An adjoining back road was heavily shelled and an Artillery man who was leading two horses along it was badly wounded. He cried out for assistance but owing to the severity of the fire all men in vicinity were taking shelter. Corporal Jones however dashed across and was followed by three of his comrades and an Australian. Shells burst all round them but they succeeded in carrying the wounded man into safety though one of the party was severely wounded and had also to be assisted.'
