Proceeded overseas to France, 10 October 1916; joined 1st Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, in the field, 26 October 1916. Wounded in action, 24 June 1917 (gassed, shell); admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 25 June 1917; transferred same day to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station; to No 22 General Hospital, Camiers, 26 June 1917; to England, 28 June 1917, and admitted same day to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 1 August 1917; attached on strength, NZ Command Depot, Codford, 27 October 1917. Transferred to No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 26 March 1918. Classified unfit by Medical Board, 3 April 1918, and placed on NZ Roll.
