Military Cross 'Messines Offensive 7th to 9th June 1917. During the attack on Messines this officer as Regimental Medical Officer, did excellent work. As soon as the objective of the Battalion had been gained he moved his regimental aid post right up to our line and was able to deal with the wounded very quickly and got them off to the A.D.S. Capt Johns has been with this Battalion since December 1915; he was with us at the evacuation of Gallipoli, and through the Somme. I cannot too highly praise his attention to the general health of the men and the devotion to duty at all times.'
