War service: Western Front Embarked Wellington, 14 March 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 21 May 1917, and marched in to 1st Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, Sling Camp. Proceeded overseas to France, 21 June 1917; joined 1st Bn, in the field, 9 July 1917. Wounded in action, 29 November 1917 (gun shot wounds, both thighs), admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to 3rd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station; to 54th General Hospital, Boulogne, 1 December 1917; to England, 13 December 1917, and admitted same day to King George Hospital, Stamford Street, London SE; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 16 January 1918; marched in to Reserve Bn, Sling Camp, 11 March 1918. Proceeded overseas to France, 8 May 1918; rejoined 1st Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, in the field, 27 August 1918, and posted to 9th Company.
