Meritorious Service Medal 'Operations: Attack on Polderhoek Chateau east of Ypres 27th November to 5th December 1917. For devotion to duty. During the above operations this man acted as a Company runner. He carried orders to and from Battalion Headquarters and although deprived of all sleep and rest he never complained and his cheerfulness and willingness were most marked. Whilst not engaged in carrying despatches he rendered invaluable assistance at a neighbouring regimental aid post. He has always shown great devotion to duty, which has been carried out by him in a most efficient spirit. He has at all times, under the most adverse conditions, set a splendid example to all with whom he has been in contact.'
