Military Medal 'On 25th and 27th September the Battalion was in action at the taking of Goose Alley and Grid Trench. From 25th to 27th September Pte Jeffery was in charge of a stretcher party and repeatedly went out under heavy enemy fire, each time bringing in wounded. He worked continuously for three days at this rescue work without rest or sleep and was the means of saving the life of many a comrade who, but for the keen devotion to duty of Pte Jeffery, might have been overlooked.'
