Embarked Wellington, 29 May 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 27 July 1916; marched into Sling Camp, 29 July 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 12 August 1916; joined 1st Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 28 August 1916, and posted to 10th Company.

Wounded in action, 17 March 1917 (gun shot wound, left forearm), and admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station; to No 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, 21 March 1917; to England, 24 March 1917, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 24 March 1917; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 20 April 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 20 July 1917.

Wounded in action (second occasion), 12 October 1917.

Court of Enquiry, 17 November 1917, concluded: 'Reasonable to suppose killed in action, 12 October 1917.'
