Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 31st July during operations West of Warenton he was in a post which was established 300 yards in advance of our lines. The Officer commanding the post was severely wounded and Private Jackson brought him back to our front line in daylight under fire from machineguns and snipers, (there were no stretcher bearers available) and, having taken this Officer to a place of safety, he returned to his Post.'
