Mention in Despatches 'Corporal Iorns has been a bombing Non-commissioned officer since the arrival of the Battalion in France last April and throughout has done excellent work. He has rendered good service in training bombers. In the raid on the enemy's trenches at Armentieres on the night of 19/20th July 1916 he led a bombing party which did good work and during the operations on the Somme from 13th September to 3rd October he supervised the supply of bombs to the Battalion when in the front line. He has shown a marked devotion to duty.'
