Medals |
Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 25th August 1918 during the attack near Biefvillers Private Hunter rendered paticularly gallant service as a runner, and his work was marked by complete disregard for danger and energetic devotion to duty. Several times he had to pass through the enemy's barrage - but he kept in touch with the forward troops at a time when telephone comunication was impossible. Again on the 7th September 1918, during the attack on the village of Metz, Private Hunter went through an intense enemy artillery and machine gun barrage and delivered urgent and important despatches to the forward companies. His gallant conduct throughout the operations was most marked, and was a splendid example to his comrades.'
