War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Embarked Wellington, 16 October 1914; disembarked Alexandria, Egypt, 3 December 1914. Charged with, 20 March 1915, of being absent from Commanding Officer's parade, 0800 hours, 20 March 1915: charge dismissed. Embarked Alexandria with unit to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 12 April 1915. Admitted to NZ Field Ambulance, Dardanelles, 29 April 1915 (acute diarrhoea), and discharged to duty the same day. Admitted to No.1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Lemnos, 23 June 1915 (abscess in ear); disembarked Alexandria, ex-HS 'Scotian', 27 June 1915, and transferred to Egyptian Army Hospital, Cairo, the same day (deafness); to Australia and New Zealand Convalescent Hospital, Helouan, 8 July 1915.
