Military Cross 'During two days hard fighting he was untiring in his efforts, and displayed great gallantry under heavy fire, as he went forward to battalions in advanced positions in his successful work of maintaining the communications between brigade headquarters and battalions in the line. His behaviour was an example of coolness and courage and he contributed in no small degree to the success of the operation.'
