Meritorious Service Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty as Transport Sergeant during the period 25th February 1918-18th September 1918. He has shown the greatest courage and skill under all conditions when pushing forward and transporting materials for early repair of roads. Since joining in August 1914 he has served in Egypt, Gallipoli and France.'
