Military Medal 'In the operations against Bellevue Spur, near Passchendaele, Sap Hornblow worked continuously from 6.00am till midnight on the 11th October, carrying up stores under great difficulties. Just after midnight he was called upon to collect his party, stores, etc to move forward. He kept his party together during this move, under heavy shell fire, until daylight. When he found the infantry had failed to take objectives and there was to be no Forward Station, he attached himself to the most forward battalion H.Q. who were digging themselves in, and set up the station. All this was done under heavy shell and machine-gun fire. He showed an exceptional amount of initiative. Sap Hornblow's work during the operations on the 4th October was of great value and showed great resource and gallantry.'
