Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field during the operations on Bon Avis Ridge from 28th September to 3rd October 1918. During the above operations this man did excellent work as a signaller in keeping up communications. He laid lines to the forward Companies and despite heavy enemy fire, he worked tirelessly to complete his work and to maintain the line. His persistent efforts were responsible for telephonic communication being maintained so that important messages were received concerning the progress of the operations. His conduct throughout was most commendable and was an
inspiration to the other men of his section.'
