Military Medal 'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty during the Operations near Hebuterne on 27th March 1918. His platoon commander and all the NCOs, having become casualties, he took command of his platoon. During the 28th March, when his platoon was heavily counter-attacked by a large body of the enemy, he showed great skill in driving back the enemy. He fearlessly led a section forward and drove the enemy from the trenches he had occupied.'
