Military Medal 'Action before Polderhoek Chateau, east of Ypres, 3rd December 1917, and following days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 3rd December 1917, during an attack on Polderhoek Chateau, Staff Sergeant D.H.H. Heron visited relay posts, frequently going forward irrespective of severe shell fire. Owing to his courage and energy evacuation of wounded proceeded rapidly. He controlled sixty squads of bearers at relay post, Clapham Junction, working continuously for twenty-four hours.'
