Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and resource. When the enemy had retaken part of the line held by his company, he reorganised his platoon, and, while holding the enemy in front personally led a party round the flank and bombed them out. Not content with this, he captured some 250 yards of new trench and established blocks, holding the enemy at bay until relieved by permanent garrisons.'
