Military Medal

'Action in front of Belle Vue Spur, West Passchendale, 12th October 1917, and following days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 12th October1917, when most of the Officers and non-commissioned-officers were out of action, Sergeant Harrington fearlessly exposed himself all day organising the different Platoons, personally supervising the digging in, and generally putting new life into the men. His cheerfulness and total disregard for his personal safety set a splendid example to all ranks.'
