Military Medal 'These two Drivers during the recent operations were attached to the 2nd N.Z.L.T.M. Battery and when taking ammunition forward to the Battery on the 26th August were caught in a barrage and had all their animals wounded. They unloaded their ammunition and brought their vehicle out to a place of safety. They then went back to their Section and obtained fresh animals. Then they went forward and picked up the ammunition and delivered it to the Battery. In doing so they were again caught in a barrage and unaided unloaded their ammunition and returned to their lines. When they returned for fresh animals they were asked if they wished to be relieved but refused. These two drivers are extremely reliable and have on previous occasions proved themselves self-reliant and resourceful.'
