Military Medal

'Action Flers Trench, Drop Alley and Goose Alley West of Flers, 20th and 21st September 1916. This man has shown great gallantry throughout these operations. On the afternoon of the 21st September, during the counter-attack on the 2nd Canterbury Batt., he bombed up a German trench for a hundred yards on his own initiative killing fourteen Germans. He was afterwards seriously wounded.'
