Meritorious Service Medal 'Sergeant Hall, during the period from September until evacuated to New Zealand
on 10/11/17, carried out his duties as Section Sergeant with great thoroughness and
efficiency. This period includes the heavy fighting in which the Division took part
at Gravenstafel, near Ypres, on the 11th and 12th October 1917. Prior to this period,
Sergeant Hall has rendered uniformly good and conscientious service since the
formation of the Company on August 12th. He has never been off the strength of
the Company during the whole period.'
