'Operations around Pont a Pierres and Beaudignies between October 23rd and 28th. For gallantry and devotion to duty. This driver showed the highest devotion to duty skill and fearlessness in evacuating wounded. He kept driving for thirty six hours and although the roads and bridges were subjected to heavy shellfire he always brought his load of wounded through. When Pont a Pierres Post was blown up on October 27th by a shell causing several casualties he got his car clear and helped to get the wounded out evacuating them to the A.D.S. quickly. His work during the operations was of high merit.'
