Found guilty, 2 March 1917, of when on Active Service being absent without leave, 26-27 February 1917: forfeited 1 day's pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 23 March 1917; joined 3rd Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 2 June 1917, and posted to B Company.

Found guilty, 2 July 1917, of when on Active Service being absent without leave from 1 am, 15 June, to noon, 15 June 1917: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Found guilty, 12 September 1917, of when on Active Service being absent without leave, 6-8 pm, 8 September 1917: awarded 21 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited 2 days' pay under Royal Warrant.
