'Operations: British Front near Pont a Pierres and Beaudignies, 23rd October 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the attack Private Webb was in command of a Lewis gun. When his platoon crossed the River they were held up by heavy machine gun fire in the Sunken Road, he rushed his gun forward under exceptionally heavy fire and silenced the enemy guns. By this prompt and brave action he undoubtedly saved many casualties. Throughout the day, although exposed to heavy machine gun and shell fire, his personal disregard for danger set a fine example to the men.'
